Starting from today hundreds thousands of holiday’s voyagers are coming. They will make their way through Pittsburgh international airport because it is the thanksgiving week.
During the holiday travel period The Transportation Security Administration expects a record-breaking number of flyers, with more than 25 million voyagers passing through security screening checkpoints at the national level between today and Nov. 26. That’s an increase of 5 percent from 2017.
Why the 10-day voyage period? Years ago, most travelers choose to fly the day before Thanksgiving, but lately, most of them are leaving the Friday before, it is a destination that the TSA expects to go on .
The more traffic voyage days will still be the two before the holiday and the following Sunday, The TSA projects shows that the latter expected to be one of the top 10 busiest travel days of the year.
Additionally PIT expects an increase in voyagers from last year. As has been the destination for several years, Wednesday, Nov. 21, and Monday, Nov. 26, is expected to be the more traffic days at PIT, with a total of nearly 40,000 people reaching and departing daily. Just on Nov. 26, up to 19,230 people are expected to reach back home, therefore baggage claim will be hopping.
“Approximately three years, we have seen a constant increase in total monthly voyagers because airlines added additional flights, benches and larger aircraft, and this year will be no different,” said Bryan Dietz, vice president of Air Service Development. “With a jumble of new ceaselessness routes and new airlines, we expect to see both regular travelers and first-time flyers during the vacation period.”
